Ellen Zimiles
Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Ellen Zimiles, Daylights co-founder and CEO, has more than 25 years of litigation and investigation experience, including 10 years as a federal prosecutor. Before forming Daylight, Ellen was a principal at a "Big Four" accounting firm, where she coordinated the forensic practice across all industry segments and was practice leader for the financial services industry. She is a leading authority on anti-money laundering programs, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, fraud control and public corruption matters. Ellen has worked with a multitude of financial institutions preparing for regulatory exams, developing remediation programs and assisting organizations as a regulatory liaison.
Before her Big Four experience, Ellen was an assistant United States attorney in the Southern District of New York for more than 10 years. She served in the civil and criminal divisions and was chief of the forfeiture unit for more than six years. Ellen was responsible for many high-profile money laundering, fraud and forfeiture cases. In recognition for her contributions as a federal prosecutor, Ellen received the United States Department of Justices John Marshall Award for Outstanding Service and the United States Department of Health and Human Services Integrity Award.
Ellen earned a bachelor's degree at Brooklyn College and a law degree at Syracuse University College of Law, where she served as an editor of the law review. |

Joseph A. Spinelli
Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer
Joseph Spinelli, Daylight's co-founder and COO, is a leading authority on white-collar crime with more than 30 years of forensic experience. He joined a Big Four accounting firm as a principal in 1994, founding its forensic practice. During his 12-year tenure there, Joe was office coordinating partner for the Northeast and public services industry leader.
Before his Big Four experience, he spent eight years as New York State's first inspector general, leading fraud, abuse, waste and corruption investigations for all New York State agencies and authorities. Joe also served as assistant director of criminal justice for the state of New York, with responsibilities for the investigation of criminal complaints and fraud allegations throughout state government. His efforts resulted in a wide array of high-profile criminal convictions for fraud and corruption.
Prior to his appointment as Inspector General, Joe served as a Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in both the New York and New Haven field offices. Joe also served as independent private sector inspector general for Miami-Dade County and was an independent fiscal monitor during the post-Sept. 11 recovery effort at the World Trade Center, with investigative, compliance and monitoring responsibilities.
Joe earned a bachelor's degree from Ricker College and a law degree at John Marshall Law School. In 2004, Joe was elected to the board of regents of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, an international professional association with 30,000 members.
In February 2010, Joe was appointed by Governor Paterson of New York to the New York State Commission on Public Integrity. |

Andrea Bonime-Blanc
General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary
Andrea is the general counsel, chief compliance officer and corporate secretary of Daylight Forensic & Advisory LLC. She supervises the legal, compliance and governance matters of the firm and has two decades of legal, transactional and compliance experience at leading international law firms and companies.
Prior to joining Daylight, Andrea served as chief ethics & compliance officer for Bertelsmann, where she established and launched the global ethics and compliance program for 100,000 employees in 60 countries for operations covering publishing, music, magazines, television, manufacturing and technology. Andrea previously served as general counsel and head of compliance, external relations, and environmental, health & safety for the global division of PSEG. In addition, she practiced law at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton LLP and King & Spalding LLP where she specialized in international project financing.
Andrea serves on the Board of Directors of the Ethics and Compliance Officer Association (ECOA) and is chair of its Global Strategy Committee. She is co-leader, co-author and co-editor of the recent ECOA publication The Ethics and Compliance Handbook: A Practical Guide from Leading Organizations and has written and edited several books and many articles. She is Vice Chair of the Conference Boards Global Council on Business Conduct, a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the Ethics Committee of the USA Archery Association (a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee), and a member of the Board of the American Association for the International Commission of Jurists. Over the years, Andrea has leveraged her upbringing in Europe and fluency in Spanish to work throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia.
Andrea is adjunct faculty at NYUs School for Continuing and Professional Studies. She holds a Joint J.D. in Law and PhD in Political Science from Columbia University. |

Chief Financial Officer
Dennis Sheehan, chief financial officer with Daylight in its New York headquarters, brings the firm almost 30 years of experience advising financial services companies.
Before joining Daylight, Dennis was a senior advisor to private equity firm FTVentures and served on the advisory board of one of FTVentures portfolio companies, EXL Services. He also served as the president and chief executive officer of a leading provider of financial services outsourcing solutions where he was a member of the board of directors. While there, Dennis was responsible for nine discreet businesses, all of which provided services to the financial services industry.
Dennis was previously executive vice president and chief financial officer for Concord Holding Corp., where he played a major role in taking Concord public and arranging its sale. He held several senior positions with The Equitable Life Assurance Corp., including president and CEO of Equico Securities, a wholly owned broker/dealer with approximately 7,000 registered representatives. Dennis also served as chief financial officer for PaineWebbers asset management business for three years and served on the New York Stock Exchanges Listed Company Advisory Committee.
Dennis was an adjunct professor at Adelphi Universitys graduate school. He holds a bachelor degree from Iona College and an MBA from New York University. |

Executive Director
Thomas Bock is an executive director with Daylight in its New York office. He previously was a director at a "Big Four" accounting firm, where he directed teams performing anti-money laundering services on behalf of large financial institutions.
While at the "Big Four" accounting firm, Tom developed and implemented an anti-money laundering transaction monitoring and case management tool used to help several global financial institutions assess millions of transactions pursuant to look-back analyses regulators requested under Bank Secrecy Act Suspicious Activity reporting laws.
Before his "Big Four" experience, Tom served as a financial fraud investigator for Republic National Bank of New York. In this role, he conducted branch investigations, performed due diligence for private banking proposals and implemented fraud-prevention systems to minimize new account fraud and check fraud.
Tom received a master's degree in economic crime management from Utica College of Syracuse University and holds a bachelor's degree in computer information from Manhattan College. He is also a certified fraud examiner (CFE). |

Carmina Hughes
Executive Director
Carmina Hughes is an executive director with Daylight in its Washington office. She is an attorney with over 27 years of investigation and litigation experience in the financial services industry and law enforcement.
Before joining Daylight Forensic, Carmina was a principal with the forensic practice at a "Big Four" accounting firm where she specialized in anti-money laundering compliance and investigations. Carminas focus has been on the financial services sector where she works with compliance, audit and legal groups to perform anti-money laundering assessments, training, risk assessments and investigations. She also performed corporate governance reviews and pre-acquisition due diligence compliance assessments.
Prior to joining the private sector, she served as special counsel for enforcement and special investigations at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. In this role, Carmina was responsible for conducting money laundering and fraud investigations, bringing all types of enforcement actions against banks and individuals, shaping domestic and international anti-money laundering policies, and implementing the USA PATRIOT Act and Bank Secrecy Act.
Carmina spent 16 years as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Maryland, where she was responsible for the investigation and prosecution of all types of federal crimes including white collar fraud, tax fraud, securities fraud, money laundering and violent crimes. She has held various supervisory posts such as Chief of General Crimes, Chief of Priority Crimes and Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division. Prior to that, Carmina was an Assistant Attorney General for the state of Maryland, handling criminal appeals and representing state officials in correctional litigation matters.

Executive Director
Salvatore LaScala is an executive director with Daylight in its New York office. He has more than 15 years of investigative and forensic experience specializing in anti-money laundering, USA PATRIOT Act, Bank Secrecy Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) investigations and compliance matters.
Sal also has expertise with anti-money laundering transaction monitoring and interdiction software applications related to development, implementation and business rule and case management enhancement. As an executive director, he is responsible for client service and product development.
Before joining Daylight Forensic, he was a managing director in the forensic practice of a "Big Four" accounting firm, where he served as a product leader for anti-money laundering, OFAC and FCPA client services. Before his Big Four experience, Sal was a special agent with the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Division and practiced law in New York state.
Sal earned his law degree from Quinnipiac University School of Law in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He holds an accounting degree from Iona College, in New Rochelle, N.Y., and is a certified fraud examiner (CFE). |

Executive Director
Scott Moritz is an executive director with Daylight in its New York office. Scott Moritz has over 22 years of complex investigative, forensic accounting, regulatory compliance and law enforcement experience. He provides FCPA/Bribery and Corruption Compliance, international investigations and training, anti-money laundering, forensic accounting and investigative due diligence assignments on behalf of Daylight's clients. In addition, Mr. Moritz also serves as the firm's Chief Security Officer.
Prior to joining Daylight, he has held executive positions at other major accounting firms and global investigative firms. For nearly 10 years, Scott served as an FBI Special Agent where he was nationally recognized for his expertise in money laundering and asset forfeiture investigations. He has extensive experience conducting complex internal investigations of fraud, misconduct and corruption, anti-money laundering consulting, organized crime and IPSIG matters both domestically and internationally. He has led complex fraud and corruption investigations in Turkey, Hungary, Uruguay, Argentina, Mexico and throughout the United States leading to the recovery of hundreds of millions of dollars of criminally derived assets.
Scott has also performed and supervised hundreds of domestic and international investigative due diligence and FCPA red flag assignments on behalf of Fortune 500 companies, investment banks, insurance companies, hedge funds, commercial lenders and private equity firms. While serving with the FBI, Scott garnered significant experience investigating organized crimes control of the private sanitation industry. Since leaving the FBI, he has been involved in the court-appointed monitoring of numerous companies and has assisted government regulatory agencies in their oversight of the private sanitation and construction industries.

Managing Director & E-Discovery and Computer Investigations Practice Leader
Carmen Oveissi Field is a managing director with Daylight in its New York office and is the Forensic Technology practice leader. She is domain expert on electronic discovery and a frequent expert speaker on the topic. She has over sixteen years of experience in information technology, with a focus on supporting complex electronic discovery matters.
Prior to joining Daylight, her consulting engagements have included the design and implementation of litigation labs, the design and management of global data collection projects, the creation of electronic discovery plans and the auditing of electronic discovery vendor policies, procedures and work practices. Carmen previously conducted penetration testing for financial institutions, designed, proposed and implemented secure solutions for NASA Headquarters while a member of the core architecture engineering team developed and implemented secure information technology solutions at IBM Global Services and completed security analyses and remediation for multiple industries.
Carmen holds an MS in Information Management from the University of Washington and a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies of Biomedical Ethics from the University of Virginia. She is a member of the ARMA International E-Discovery Advisory Group, the Georgetown University CLE Advisory Board for E Discovery Institute and is active in the Sedona Conference Working Group on Electronic Document Retention and Production and the Working Group on International Electronic Information Management and Disclosure. |
